With the ‘Youth + Democracy’ fund, the Swiss Democracy Foundation focuses on promoting democracy education, a culture of democratic debate and support for young initiatives in the area of democracy promotion.
The Board of Trustees believes that empowering and supporting young people and young adults to participate in politics is an important element with a promising future.
on the Youth + Democracy Fund
1. no further applications can be approved in 2024 as the fund's resources for the current year have already been exhausted
2. the Swiss Democracy Foundation launched the fund in 2021 to promote the political education and participation of young people under the age of 30.
3. the Youth + Democracy Fund will be managed by the Democracy Foundation Basel from 1 January 2025. In addition to Andreas Zivy, who has taken over the chairmanship, the foundation board members are Dr Rebekka Utzinger Ermini and Dr Benedikt Suter. The existing regulations and guidelines remain unchanged. The Fund is now advised by Dr Lucas Leemann from the Institute of Political Science at the University of Zurich.
4 Andreas Zivy has resigned from the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Democracy Foundation.
The fund is intended to support organisations and projects that are primarily run by young people and young people up to the age of 30. The projects must fulfil the objectives and criteria of the fund.
The objectives and criteria for possible support are the promotion of democracy, the participation of youth and young people in public life and politics, the commitment to an open-minded and liberal society and to a policy that counteracts polarisation and works towards broad-based socio-political compromises.
Applications for contributions from the Youth + Democracy Fund must be submitted to the Basel Democracy Foundation from 1 January 2025.

2. if you are unsure whether an application makes sense, you can contact the Demokratie Stiftung Basel from 1 January 2025.
3. compile your project dossier for the application.
4. submit the project dossier via our online application form.
